HOW TO TREAT ACNE
Everyone's acne is the same some can be controlled with very mild regiments and other others require a full array of therapy to get that under control there's no single best treatment for acne and so this article is more to educate you but only a physician providing supervised medical therapy can identify the best course of treatment that will work best for your type of acne couple other things despite any claims acne treatment does not work overnight it takes weeks and months to see improvement at least a couple of months really once acne clears you really should continue to treat your skin to prevent future outbreaks it is important that you are judicious in both the treatment of acne and the prevention of many outbreaks you might have in the future and that's mostly because it's much easier to prevent skin changes you know skin pigmentation changes and scarring mostly than it is to try to treat those down the road so the first part is just basic skin care so you want to wash your face no more than twice a day using a gentle non soap facial skin cleanser and warm but not hot water examples of soaps that are really gentle include Cetaphil caress leaver oil of olay dove there are others sometimes this acne treatments can cause dryness and skin peeling those are actually pretty common side effects so a moisturizer might be helpful if you try if you choose to use a moisturizer try to find one that is non-comedogenic because it'll be less likely to block the pores in your skin some acne treatments can increase your skin sensitivity of the Sun to minimize skin damage from the Sun avoid excess exposure and use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 the ha-has broad-spectrum UV UVB coverage before going outside there are non prescription acne treatments out there those include salicylic acid benzoyl peroxide sulfur alpha hydroxy acids and tea tree oils I'm not going to go into which one I think is best but they're all available at various non prescription strengths a combination of these treatments is often more effective than using one single product alone an example of a typical routine to kind of try out would be to use either gentle so benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid Washington morning in the same wash again at night and if three or three months or so past and different trial and errors aren't working that's the time when you want to start considering to seek medical attention to get a better handle on your acne and then the prescription options these are sort of the big guns they're essentially four categories three to four depending how you define them that your doctor might use to try to better control it the first is topical retinoids these include tretinoin which is like retina a or a chiral and adapt alene the second therapy that might be helpful for you or antibiotics bacteria can be a source of acne I can also make other causes of acne worse and so there are topical and oral antibiotics that can be useful here the third thing it's hormone modulation and this applies mostly to women and options there include oral contraceptives or another drug called spironolactone which is a diuretic and these manipulate their relationship and relative amounts of androgenic steroids in circulation which are what promotes acne and the fourth option is accutane or isotretinoin and this is sort of the big gun that can cure most acne that has been refractory to any other treatments it is it is a relatively safe drug and most dermatologists will use it but does have some side effects and you know it's use requires close to revision with a physician my dermatologist also has a few other options in their tool belt they can use lasers light therapy chemical peels and then for really large cysts that don't drain on their own they can you know treat those as well so it's basically it for acne treatment you know this is really the top to bottom list of things that you can do and my advice is if you have more questions or you want to take that next step you knowplease make an appoint with your healthcare provider they'll be happy to help you out
